Youth Consultation Results – Thank You, Hednesford!

You spoke. We listened. And now we’re ready to share what you told us.
Last September to November, Hednesford Town Council asked 11–18 year olds what it’s really like to be a young person in Hednesford today — and what would make life better in the future.
The response was brilliant, honest and thoughtful… thank you to everyone who took part

What we heard:

Young people value Hednesford’s community feel, green spaces and parks

Many enjoy sports, gaming, music, arts and spending time with friends

The biggest challenge is boredom and a lack of things to do, especially affordable activities that cover more than sports such as music and arts

A strong call for a safe social space, better mental health support and inclusive youth provision

Safety matters — especially lighting, visible police patrols and calmer streets at night

Lots of young people want help accessing part‑time jobs and work experience

What this means for us
While the Town Council cannot deliver county or district‑level services or large infrastructure projects, what we can do is:

Give young people a voice

Work with partners, services and organisations

Seek external funding

Use this evidence to influence future decisions and investment

To every young person who shared their views: thank you for helping shape the future of Hednesford. This is just the beginning.
